ByBox expands into running repairs
ByBox has extended its overnight parts and components delivery service for maintenance and engineering users by starting its own repair and swap-out service. As chief executive Stuart Miller explains it: 'Field service staff do fewer repairs these days and more swap-outs. It made sense for us to become part of this process.' In support of the initiative, ByBox has bought up a company called Newcotech, which specialises in on-site service and replacement of electronic and IT equipment. This means it can now draw on a staff of more than 70 field service technicians, offering a swap-out service in as little as two hours. ByBox has also set up a repair operation within its hub depot in the Midlands. 'We can do repairs overnight, without having to send the product on to a further destination.' ByBox already offers a stockholding service for customers. Now its regional bases have become forward stock locations for customers, helping to reduce the response time for deliveries, as well as reducing unnecessary transport movements. For repairs that require more than basic modular replacement and swap-out skills, Miller says ByBox is building up what he terms a 'collaborative hub' of suppliers with specialist capabilities.
