Textile firm saves with carrier selection system
By starting to use MetaPack's Delivery Manager carrier selection system, HIS Textiles says it has been able to reduce its despatch costs and improve customer service. The company supplies household textiles both to the trade and direct to retail customers. The company was already using several carriers to handle its deliveries, including DPD, Parcelforce Worldwide, Nightfreight and Twoway Aramex. It wanted to add yet another, Royal Mail, in order to achieve the cost savings by parcel weight that it offered; but the extra cost of sorting parcels manually ruled this out. MetaPack's Delivery Management software has solved this problem by sorting the despatches by weight and allocating them to a carrier accordingly. The implementation was made easier by the fact that HIS was using fulfilment software from Channel Advisor, whose managing director, James Scott, says: 'While Channel Advisor is a leader in the field of multi-channel selling, until now we couldn't offer our customers a complete e-commerce package.' Bringing MetaPack on board, as he describes it, has extended the streamlined sales processes offered by his software to the distribution arena. According to Iqbal Malik, a manager at HIS Textiles: 'The software has saved us considerable time and money.'
