Wilkinson appoints Salvesen for e-fulfilment
Wilkinson has chosen Christian Salvesen to provide e-fulfilment services in support of a new transactional web site it has launched. The company selected Salvesen following a competitive tender process. Salvesen has allocated 18 full-time staff to the Worksop base, and they will be looking after the fulfilment process, coming into action after the product has been picked. Salvesen functions include checking order status, details and packaging, and then applying a specifically-developed systems-driven routing process that works according to individual package. The system is said to have been tailored precisely to Wilkinson's requirements, choosing the most cost-effective and secure method of home delivery for each item. Delivery is then completed either through Salvesen resources or via Royal Mail or selected couriers. According to Robin Lassiter, e-commerce controller for Wilkinson: 'We were looking for a detailed solution for our home delivery operation. We have linked our internal information and product systems with those of Salvesen, and we now have a comprehensive e-commerce operation that will grow significantly over the next 12 months.'
