Planning and execution combined in latest Manhattan offering

Multi-channel retailers could benefit from the latest release of the supply-chain solutions suite from Manhattan Associates. This sees the first fruits of integration between the company's existing supply-chain execution software and the retail planning systems of Evant, which it acquired last year. The release combines the two functions in what the company calls its "solutions road map".

Alongside this development, Manhattan has unveiled its first industry-specific initiative - Supply Chain Solutions for Retail. It describes this as a strategic framework to fulfil the planning and execution needs of retailers.

According to president and chief executive officer Pete Sinisgalli, large, multi-channel retailers can no longer operate selling channels as individual silos. "In order to optimise their supply chain they must have visibility by channel and across channels."

The company says it is the only solutions provider to offer the complete footprint for supply chain management, suitable for retailers of all sizes.

Features of the latest offering include the ability to use a common demand forecasting process across both planning and execution; optimisation of warehouse operations; merchandise planning by channel and across channels; management of private labels; collaboration with trading partners worldwide; inbound and outbound transport planning, procurement and execution; and forecasting and replenishment for both stores and distribution centres.
