Telematics responds to women’s insurance ruling

Following the controversial ruling by the European Court of Justice requiring women to pay the same as men for vehicle insurance, the telematics market has renewed its drive to promote vehicle tracking as a possible way to reduce premiums.

Ctrack has been one of the quickest off the mark, launching a product called Ctrack Intelligent Insurance to help businesses and insurers monitor the way vehicles are driven – and hence to tailor premiums to actual performance. The company now has a director of insurance telematics to look after this market sector.

Quartix is already involved in a programme to provide insurance specialist Coverbox with 1,200 insurance-linked tracking systems a month, and other telematics provides have also focused on this market.
