Drop-boxes from Royal Mail?

Royal Mail might consider introducing drop-boxes for unattended collection of home shopping deliveries outside its delivery offices. This idea, still only at an embryonic stage, is among many new concepts and developments reported in a major feature article on home delivery solutions in the latest Fulfilment & e.logistics, and now available to view on our web site.

Other developments covered in the article include ByBox's new non-integrated consumer solution, MyByBox, in which registered users simply nominate the ByBox distribution hub as their delivery address, and the goods are then despatched to their nominated box bank. And under DX ownership, the ParcelXchange box-bank network service could still eventually see the roll-out of a comparable consumer service, it is reported.

High street collection point services described include not only the new Drop and Collect service from HDNL and PayPoint, but also the fast-growing ParcelPark service, which already has over 200 outlets. And Kiala reveals that it is still committed to rolling out a UK home delivery consolidation service, despite having had to break with its original carrier partner.
