Business Direct reaffirms commitment to box bank network

Paul Carvell and Tim Houston, two of the key directors of the former Business Direct operation, have left the company following the acquisition of a major part of it by postal operator DX.

An interim managing director has been appointed to run the acquired business pending a further review of its operations and decision about future strategy. His identity had not been announced when we closed for press.

DX has reasserted its intention to support and extend Business Direct’s ParcelXchange network of intelligent box banks, both in the business-to-business parts delivery market and in the business-to-consumer sector, where Business Direct had begun to make modest inroads.

Houston, a long-time board member of Business Direct, was replaced as chief executive by Paul Carvell in 2006, but stayed on as an executive director. Carvell joined after leaving Business Post.
