Regatta standardises on SAFE web platform

Regatta Group is rolling out three new transactional web sites using SAFE (Salmon Application Framework for eCommerce) technology. They are for clothing brands Hawkshead, Craghoppers and Dare2b.

SAFE is a series of pre-configured, reusable and customisable e-commerce components, which will all run in the same “instance” of IBM WebSphere Commerce. The Hawkeshead site is the first to have been converted.

The group is said to instigated the change following the acquisition of Hawkshead in August last year, having struggled to manage a disparate range of existing sites by various developers.

On brief examination, the new Hawkshead site looks clear and functional, though delivery information is hidden under a Help menu, and no details of carriers are given. A consignment tracking system is said to under development.
