Businesses using DHL Express’s Time Definite International services to move product around the world will soon be able to track all movements with a single online application, Global ProView. Following an initial roll-out in the United States, it is due for extension to most key markets by the end of the year, DHL says.

Whilst you might think such a system is perfectly logical, global carriers have so far found it challenging to achieve consistency of approach and performance across the world, and customers often still have to track individual consignments by waybills or other traditional processes.

DHL says Global ProView enables customers to monitor all their shipments through a single account number, which is password-and PIN-protected. Shipments can also be grouped in categories based on their current tracking status. The system even allows customers to configure the application to send real-time text or e-mail alerts whenever a shipment is delivered, is picked up or hits a snag in the delivery chain.
