Real-time PODs from the Isle of Man
Retailers who ship product to customers in the Isle of Man should stand a much better chance of obtaining detailed tracking and proof of delivery information, following two developments by major carriers there. Both Isle of Man Post Office and Manx Independent Carriers, said to be the leading independent carrier on the island, have introduced real-time POD systems, which enable them to capture POD data and provide it to a range of mainland carriers for whom they do deliveries. Isle of Man Post Office has chosen the 2020ePOD track and trace managed service from Skillweb, and is providing information to third-party carriers on both collections and deliveries. Manx Independent is using the PODXchange web-based international 'databank' service from NetDespatch. Scanned data, POD information and signatures are all then transformed into the appropriate carrier format and made available to Manx's customers, including the UK parcel carriers. Between them the two operators work for a wide range of high-profile mainland carriers.
