Parcel2go 'flourishing since postal strikes'
Partly as a result of the UK's postal strikes last year, online parcel delivery company Parcel2go.com says its business has more than doubled over the past twelve months. The actual increase was 115 per cent, and much of it came within a month of the strikes. The company says volumes rose from 21,000 orders in September 2007 to 43,000 a month later, boosting revenue by £200,000 a month. The company claims to have retained most of the extra business it picked up. Business development director Richard Adams-Mercer says this is partly because it collects from consignors, rather than leaving them to take packages to a post office. Operating from headquarters in Bolton, the company uses a range of carriers such as FedEx, DHL, UPS and City Link. It has become particularly well established in the realms of eBay, offering sellers a convenient way to despatch their goods, though it also has plenty of business with other clients. This year it expects turnover to exceed £10 million.
