POD and delivery management system from Codegate

Proof of delivery features strongly in a 'shrink-wrapped' software solution called mobilelogistics launched by Codegate.

Features include the ability to scan serial numbers and barcodes, capture digital images and signatures, manage incorrect deliveries, re-schedule failed deliveries and make unplanned collections – all in real time.

Drivers can use the system to pick up and label returns or exchanges at the point of delivery, and can even sell additional items. Vehicle tracking, route navigation and delivery receipt printing are also available.

Other features include automatic time-stamping of deliveries, two-way messaging, and even vehicle safety checks.

It is a hosted and fully-managed solution, and at the 'sharp' end it runs on ruggedised mobile computers (various options are supported). The company says it has been built on a modular basis so that users can take only the components they need, and can deploy the system quickly.

Codegate managing director Terran Churcher says the company 'saw a gap in the market for a shrink-wrapped *tailorable' solution.' He claims that the system can pay for itself 'within weeks'.
