PFS surges ahead in Cardiff, looks to Continent
![]() A mainland UK fulfilment operation has been set up by PFS, the Jersey-based fulfilment house, and is now fully up and running with a range of customers. The company says it has been adding clients there at the rate of about one per month. It says it is already looking at opening a continental base, possibly in the first quarter of next year. PFS's expansion plans were revealed in F&E, issue 47, where director Michael Boarer said the company intended to offer a comprehensive mainland fulfilment service, avoiding any reliance on the VAT exemption on low-value sales that has in the past been an attraction of fulfilment from Jersey. The new base is at Bridgend, outside Cardiff, where PFS has a 7,000 sq ft warehouse within easy reach of the M4 motorway, with options to expand. It is using various delivery organisations including Royal Mail, DPD and palletised goods specialist West One Express. Companies already using the new facility include Badgemagnets, a specialist in magnetic badge fittings; FragranceNet.com, a New York based online retailer; Doobeach.co.uk, a footwear retailer; and microchipcatflaps.co.uk, which sells microchip-sensing cat flaps. Boarer says the operation represents a good fit with online retailers turning over between £200,000 and £2 million.
