Midas touch helps restore BoysStuff fortunes

Online retailer BoysStuff.co.uk says a decision to implement the Midas Direct e-commerce solution from Sanderson has been an essential factor in returning the company to profitability within the space of a year.

The company sells gadgets – anything from a golf simulator to a remote-controlled toy aeroplane. It claims to have cornered the market for gifts aimed at the 18 to 45 age group.

However, by 2007 it was losing money, and newly appointed chief executive Gary Beresford introduced a range of rescue measures. As part of the plan, he decided to rationalise the two e-commerce systems then in use (Midas plus a bespoke in-house system), and invited staff to express their preference.

'Midas Direct won by a long chalk,' he says. 'The warehouse team in particular were adamant that Midas Direct should be the choice.'

Midas Direct is an e-commerce solution designed especially for online retailers. The back office and the web site are fully integrated, providing complete visibility and control over an entire e-commerce operation.

It has the capacity to power any number of transactional web sites, telesales and mail order campaigns, supported by a single back-office solution but allowing a different look and feel for each channel.

Already the company says it has renewed the initial 18-month licence for Midas.
