City Link refocuses on service
In an unusually frank analysis of short-term strategy, parcels carrier City Link has revealed that it is putting on hold the process of integration with Target Express, the carrier it acquired nearly two years ago. Customer service is now to be its priority. Underlining its continued progress in the market, the company also points out that it has recently won new business and contract extensions with a range of customers, and is planning to acquire, renew, extend or replace 16 depots over the next 18 months. Despite announcements that the initial phase of integration had been completed by summer of last year, grass-roots integration is understood to have taken longer and been harder than expected to complete. Now recently-appointed managing director Petar Cvetkovic, who previously held the same role at Target, has adopted a new philosophy. 'We are not interested in integration as a priority, we are only interested in getting it right for our customers and our people,' he says.
