Eco-friendly packaging infill system for lighting specialist
Eco-friendly packaging infill system for lighting specialist

Packing individual products safely for despatch, especially in the home delivery market, is presenting a growing challenge as users increasingly reject traditional 'loosefill' material on environmental grounds. So what's the alternative?

One company, Dialight Lumidrives, reckons it has found a new eco-friendly solution from Easypack. Dialight is thought to be world leader in applying high-powered LED technology to produce imaginative lighting products for internal and external use.

According to the company's packaging specialist, Peter Townend: 'We tried screwing up paper by hand, but this was too slow and not suitable as a long-term solution.'

Easypack proposed its latest Epsilon system, which produces bulky, shock-absorbing cushions from rolls of single-ply 100 per cent recycled paper. Townend says the Epsilon machine is cost-effective and straightforward to operate, 'and easily keeps pace supplying material to two packers.'

The system was evaluated over a month's trial, and proved ideal. It accommodates lighting units of all shapes and sizes and provides all-round support and protection which stays firmly in place and is said to reduce damage substantially in transit.

The flexible paper cushion can be moulded to fit the product or for top fill. Its extreme resilience is said to make it is easy to judge exactly how much is needed for each application.
