RS gains better stock integration

RS Components says it has gained much better ability to link stock levels with its transactional web site since implementing a new wave of technology, which includes SAP enterprise management and web search engine and navigation by Endeca Technologies.

RS says the improvements include an intuitive search and browse solution built on enhanced data, and more intuitive web tools, allowing customers to browse its full product catalogue using integrated category and search filters.

Search results are summarised by product attributes so customers can easily evaluate the best available options, and determine the best solution for a specific need.

Customers can access multiple suppliers' products from a single place. They can then compare and order any product in one click, which is said to enable electronics designers and maintenance engineers to save both time and money.

The new site, www.rs-components.com, has been rolled out across parent Electrocomponents' operational companies in eleven European countries, plus a further 29 countries through its international distributor network. The new web site will be also deployed in the Asia Pacific region later this year.
