Order fulfilment from Skillweb
Skillweb, a developer gaining a growing reputation in the mobile computing and real-time proof of delivery market, has reinforced its capabilities across the whole spectrum of managing orders with the launch of what it calls its Order Fulfilment Solution. The product aims to handle the entire end-to-end process of dealing with inbound orders. It will sort electronic pre-notified orders into manifests, which can then be manipulated either manually or using pre-determined business rules, and will then ready the manifests for delivery. Exception handling is built in. The system can also deal with batches of inbound orders, cross-docking them ready for despatch. Couriers, carriers and distributors can receipt, handle, sort, route and despatch orders, and delivery routes and work loads can be optimised to ensure maximum efficiency. Potentially a very useful feature is the ability to prioritise deliveries, using a diary function. The company says this is particularly useful for supporting multiple services levels - for instance, where a company offers various options such as same-day, next-day, Saturday only and evening deliveries. OFS can be integrated with Skillweb's existing family of track and trace solutions, or used in stand-alone mode.
