RS Components UK has chosen CitySprint to handle its same-day delivery work under a two-year contract valued at over £1 million.

The deal, described by RS as a partnership, was signed after a six-month tendering process.

Previously RS used a range of local courier companies to service its 17 trade counters and five Call and Collect outlets. The company says it was attracted by the fact that CitySprint has more than 30 wholly-owned 'ServiceCentre' bases around the country.

RS, part of Electrocomponents, dates back to 1937, and has become one of the leading distributors of electronic, electrical, electromechanical and industrial products.
