'Pay Per Pixel' web freight promotional site

A novel new way of promoting freight-related products and services on the internet has been launched by a company called Worldwide Freight Web.

There are various options, but at the simplest level, you buy a presence on a map of your area, and pay in terms of the number of pixels occupied by your logo. So availability is constrained by the number of companies wanting to advertise themselves in your area.

Britain is divided into four areas (Scotland, north, south-west and Wales, South East), and Northern Ireland is covered by its own area. These areas in turn are divided into very small grid squares which we are told are 20 pixels wide. For a typical entry you might require six squares costing £120 a year. Early advertisers include DFDS Tor Line and PD Ports.

There does not appear to be a click-through facility linking to the web sites of advertisers, but other features are planned, including an online freight exchange.
