Listen before talk' approval for Psion Teklogix
Psion Teklogix has gained 'listen before talk' approval for its RD7950 RFID reader from the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) EN 302 208. ETSI's 'listen before talk' and 'frequency agile' techniques are designed to permit optimum use of the available spectrum in RFID applications. Approval means Psion's device is now authorised for use in the 865-868MHz frequency band. The reader is offered for use in association with Psion Teklogix' 7535 G2 rugged handheld computing device. By using them in tandem, the company says, operators can speed up product movement through the supply chain and track products, pallets and assets in a variety of locations. The RD7950 allows an operator to multi-task by using the reader for short-range applications such as tote management, and then adjusting quickly to pallet or inventory tracking, working in a range of two to three metres. It can be retrofitted to existing devices.
