Fulfilment by Technicolor

Third-party fulfilment is being offered in the UK by Technicolor Distribution Services, the logistics arm of the media group. The company says it can offer a full range of services, including bulk despatch of pallets and cartons to high-street stores and one-to-one home shopping fulfilment.

The logistics company has a long-established presence in the UK, and focuses mainly on distribution of media and entertainment products for major names such as Disney and Paramount. Capabilities include storage, picking and packing, product collation and assembly, over-wrapping, shrink-wrapping and similar added-value activities.

It describes its main warehouse in the Rugby area as 'quite outstanding' in terms of its meticulous cleanliness, and says it would be ideal for a wide range of compatible products. It has invested in packaging and wrapping machinery, and describes its added-value capabilities as 'well above average'.

Much of the company's existing work is heavily seasonal, falling in the final quarter of the year, and it is keen to exploit the spare capacity it has at other times - though it emphasises that because it has long experience at flexing its labour force, it will happily take on new year-round projects.

The company is a subsidiary of the famous California-based media group, which is said to be the world's most prolific processor of motion picture film, as well as the world's largest manufacturer and distributor of pre-recorded videocassettes, DVD-Video disk, DVD-ROMs and CD-ROMs. Technicolor is these days a subsidiary of Thomson.
