As reverse logistics becomes an increasingly fashionable corner of the supply chain, the latest contractor to put down a marker in this sector is Tibbett & Britten. Executive chairman John Harvey says it is an area identified for future development; and as an early indicator of intent, the company has launched a bid to acquire German reverse logistics specialist VfW of Cologne.

VfW operates as a "fourth-party logistics" company, using a network of 500 subcontractors, and also handles consumer product recalls, and last year turned over £20.7 million.
