Sibcas tracks deliveries on the wall

A 40in flat TTF screen showing a colour map hangs in the transport office of Sibcas, a leading supplier of modular relocatable buildings. It is the centrepiece of a management system supplied by Glasgow-based Specialist Services, and uses advanced mapping technology by GGP Systems.

The aim of the system is to provide traffic operators with a visual snapshot of all scheduled deliveries. The screen is linked to a central database of customer sites and 30,000 UK towns and villages, and helps traffic controllers monitor movements and coordinate deliveries among depots.

The big screen was supplied by Inelco, and is supported by a smaller secondary touch-sensitive screen for user interaction. Mapping has been supplied by Ordnance Survey at two scales - 1:1 million and 1:250,000 - and the gazetteer is from the Geographer's A-Z Map Company.
