Heinz gains recognition for tendering system
Use of what is termed a "relationship-based procurement platform" from Translogistica has helped put HJ Heinz among three finalists in the Business Technology of the Year category of this year's CNET Networks UK Technology Awards. The nomination cited a UK-based ambient and frozen products transport project, which used Translogistica's PreFlex RFQ scoring and analysis tools to achieve financial savings and improve service quality. Translogistica worked closely with CombineNet, a Pittsburgh-based supply-chain procurement company, to provide the technical tools and support for the project. Translogistica originally gained prominence for its online freight tendering platform, but has since pitched its proposition more broadly in the e-procurement arena. Translogistica chief executive Tom Wahnsiedler puts emphasis on its "information-rich tendering process".
