Cross-docking in Catalyst's latest release
"Flow-through" product management is combined with conventional warehouse management in a new version of CatalystCommand, the high-end WMS software package from Catalyst International. The company says it is the first to offer such a combined package, which targets the increasing number of suppliers who rely on cross-docking to get product to stores without storing them at all. The new version 9.1 also introduces vendor quality management - an electronic auditing procedure that is said to increase shipment accuracy by reducing vendor charge-backs. Other new features are yard management, which includes scheduling of trailers and maintenance of remote yards; and lean warehousing, which includes picking without radio-frequency support (said to be common in the automotive industry). There is also enhanced support for integration with SAP R/3.
