LIS targets high-tech suppliers, 3PLs
Businesses in the high-tech logistics and third-party fulfilment markets are particularly targeted in enhancements released in the latest version of the Dispatcher-WMS warehouse management systems from LIS. For the high-value electronics field, Version 8.0 introduces features such as the ability to capture serial numbers as inventory arrives in the warehouse. These can be validated automatically against pre-delivery documentation provided by the supplier.
The system tracks the serial numbers of items that have been supplied together, (for instance, a mobile phone handset and SIM card), and can also relate the serial numbers of all items within a single delivery. Range scanning allows a group of serial numbers to be captured in a single scan, improving efficiency when dealing with large volumes of inventory. Another new feature is ASN receiving functionality, through which users can capture delivery and pallet data from a pre-delivery EDI message. Once the message is received, labels showing pallet and tag ID codes are printed automatically, ensuring that when the items are delivered, they can be received and put away with maximum efficiency. Version 8.0 also provides the flexibility to deal with suppliers or carriers that use fax or email rather than EDI.
