Cognito offers mobile data over T-Mobile GSM
Amid all the recent excitement about mobile data using GSM and GPRS phone technology, the established mobile data networks still have something effective to contribute. That is underlined in a new agreement signed by Cognito with T-Mobile, the mobile telephone network controlled by Deutsche Telekom. Cognito is promoting its G21 service as offering the best of both worlds. It takes advantage of the widely available GSM/GPRS platform, whilst at the same time providing what is termed "a controlled mobile data solution", with full mobile management. Cognito's service uses a packetised data system to optimise air-time usage and data volume, and its managed network adds extra functionality. For instance, options include integration into central management systems, audit trails, a "sore-and-forward" facility, and "push" and "pull" sending and receiving. At the same time, users of the latest implementation are promised competitive T-Mobile tariff structures.
