'Near-perfect' Xmas record for Wellbeing.com
Practically every consumer buying product from Wellbeing.com in the run-up to Christmas received their order on time, according to MetaPack, the company handling fulfilment for the Boots and Granada subsidiary. It says 99.96 per cent of orders were delivered on time during the December peak. Between October and December, MetaPack says 65,000 orders were handled through the system, which uses a warehouse in Nottingham and a control centre in London. Christmas orders were accepted right up to 21 December for premium Saturday delivery. Unusually, MetaPack has revealed details of individual consignments that didn't arrive as planned (just sixteen in all). Nine deliveries failed because the recipients weren't available, it says; five were found to have address queries; and two were lost in stolen carrier vehicles. Mark Knowles, Wellbeing's head of fulfilment, has praised MetaPack for "effective fulfilment capable of proactively resolving individual delivery glitches".
MetaPack uses three carriers for its deliveries - Business Express, Parcelforce Worldwide and Securicor Omega Express - and says its direct links with their control centres helped it to monitor delivery performance and trouble-shoot problems. Altogether 270 local depots were involved.
