Triumph opts for Lex parts CD
In order to give motorcycle dealers consistent, easily-understood access to its parts catalogue, Triumph Motorcycles has commissioned a CD-based catalogue solution from Lex Auto Logistics. The system has already been delivered to all the company's UK dealers, and will eventually be rolled out to more than 800 worldwide. The three-year deal does not currently include parts handling or physical fulfilment, which is where Lex Auto's historical expertise lies. Rather, it underlines the company's growing presence in the parts support software market. The CD is offered in English, French, German and Japanese. It contains full parts details for 26 Triumph models dating back twenty years, as well as related clothing and accessories. Once installed, it allows dynamic updating of pricing and parts details via dial-up link to the Triumph database.
Lex Auto's Electronic Parts Catalogue, or EPC, has been developed since the mid-1990s; one of the biggest users is LDV, the van manufacturer. Now the product is being renamed LEXtec, and is being marketed more broadly to any businesses needing catalogue management resources. The current version uses a bespoke interface, but by the summer Lex expects to unveil a new Web-based version it is developing in association with software house Eesi-soft.
