Collaborative drive in Synquest demand planning upgrade

Inbound logistics planning is one of the key features introduced in the latest version 7.0 of the collaborative supply chain planning suite from Synquest. It aims to take a holistic approach to inbound logistics costs, helping users coordinate activities such as purchasing, transport planning and inventory on the basis of expected demand.

A range of other new capabilities is built into the various modules of Synquest 7.0. Among them are product line profitability analysis, returnable container planning and advanced supplier collaboration.

This last feature, which forms part of the complex order planning system, allows trading partners to input data on issues such as inventory availability or price directly into the planning system, using password-protected access.

Two new features figure in all Synquest modules - calibration (allowing companies to "baseline" their existing supply chain operational and financial performance); and contingency planning.

Meanwhile, SynQuest's architecture now supports IBM MQ Series Adaptors, allowing users to take advantage of the Internet-based collaborative capabilities of IBM's WebSphere suite.
