Fast-track e-procurement from BT Ignite

A "fast-track" hosted e-procurement service for MRO goods (non-core supplies such as stationery and furniture) has been launched by BT Ignite, the operation which spearheads broadband communications and business-to-business systems for BT. It is aimed at large service-oriented business and corporates, but is said to be capable of small-scale deployment if required.

The stand-alone service is built round the American-originating Commerce One Enterprise Desktop Edition system, which BT Ignite markets in Europe. BT is promising fast implementation times, and hence a rapid return on investment. Jane Vose, BT Ignite's hear of e-commerce products, sees it as an opportunity for users to measure the effectiveness of e-procurement on a modest scale before deciding on a wider roll-out.
