Added capabilities in Actinic"s latest e-retail offering
Enhanced interactivity features in a new version of the high-end PortalBuilder e-commerce front-end software system from market leader Actinic Software. Key features identifying PortalBuilder 2.0 include customer reviews of suppliers (with a "star grading" form for customers to fill in); enhanced ability to classify stores and their contents; cross-site searching by classification and price (down to individual product level); and reporting of store transactions to the portal "landlord" through ODBC links to compliant databases such as Microsoft Access. PortalBuilder is designed to offer retailers everything they need to set up and manage the front end of an online shopping mall, including design templates, remote management capabilities, banner advertising and cross-site searching. It is an off-the-shelf application aimed at value-added resellers, Internet service providers, large corporates and special interest groups. It retails at £10,000, and runs on the Windows NT/2000 and Unix platforms (Solaris and Linux). The product is one of a range available from Actinic for small and medium-sized companies.
