Rico expands in Spain

Rico Logistics, a leading UK specialist in field service and same-day delivery and fitment of engineering parts and equipment, has expanded its presence in Spain, which the company sees as 'a huge untapped market'.

Rico is already active in the country, where it has set up a 20,000 sq ft distribution centre in Madrid to service the needs of what it describes as 'a global IT manufacturer'.

Now it has extended its reach through the country by signing an agreement giving it access to the nationwide resources of the Spanish parcels company Tipsa.

Rico's own online tracking and tracing system, developed over the past three years, has been extended into Spain in order to offer what it calls seamless cross-border service levels to international clients.

Rico currently had nine main locations in Spain, and says the total will rise to 14 in the coming months, servicing 38 dispersed pick-up/drop-off locations. According to service director John Southwell: 'I believe our Spanish business will soon be turning over between £3 million and £4 million a year.'

In the UK, Rico has a leading role in servicing the needs of retailers, banks and other organisations. The company's turnover for this year is predicted to approach £40 million.
