Eddie's Essentials comes of age
Eddies' Essentials, an online retailer specialising in home, garden and leisure products, is moving into new warehousing and taking its fulfilment in-house less than a year after its launch. The business is the brainchild of Eddie Riby, who is better known for his Parcel Safe unattended delivery box (one of the products sold on the site). Its biggest single product range is water features, but it also offers a variety of other gadgets. Having started by using a third-party delivery company, the business is now opening its own 5,000 sq ft premises near Barnsley, and has appointed a warehouse manager. It is also opening an adjoining showroom for personal callers. Despatch is handled by a range of carriers including Parcelforce Worldwide (for which Riby has high praise), Parceline and Nightfreight. Palletways is used for palletised products. Carriers are selected according to the weight and size of the products; Nightfreight is favoured for its expertise in fragile glass-fibre products, which some carriers are wary of.
The company's web site was developed by Shopcreator, which specialises in hosted solutions.
